It's a Great Day To Be Alive

This morning didn't start out the best.  Not bad, but not great.  Jack, the wonder dog, was a bit needy and demanded a walk before I left for work.  I was running a bit late so I decided to take the highway instead of the back roads that I normally drive.  Big mistake.  I hit a traffic jam precipitated by some doofusses (or is that 'doofi'?) that had gotten into a wreck.  Yippee.

When I got to work (late) I was met by more neediness in the world of IT.  Again, Yippee.  Everybody wanted something and nothing was working right.

While I was in a meeting I received a text from a friend.  She was in the area.  Would I like to meet her for lunch?  You didn't have to ask me that twice.

We met at the "brown restaurant in front of Target" - I had no idea of its name and still don't recall it.  Over burgers we chatted about everything, anything, and nothing at all.  It was wonderful.

It's amazing what a call from a friend can do.  That one text changed the complexion of my day.  To be thought of.  To be listened to.  To share ideas and laughs.  Thanks, T!

As Travis Tritt sings. . . .

And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin' when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

  2. So glad you got a surprise invite to change your day around. I love it when that happens.

I was thinking of you today as I watered the flowers and planted some mums. Those tall purple flowers you gave me are doing GREAT! They are still blooming and are multiplying like crazy. They don't stand up straight, though. Have I done something wrong, or will they straighten up when there are more mature ones?

    1. The Spiderwort I had never all completely stood up straight, though as they fill out they do get better. You haven't done a darn thing wrong, and, if they are still blooming and growing like crazy, you're obviously doing something right!

  3. Awesome scarecrow photograph! Is that a jug of moonshine he is holding? ;o)
Nothing beats a nice note or call from a friend.

    1. Thanks! I wish I could take credit, but Himself took that picture. It's just one of many great ones he got that morning.

Nice catch. Any self respecting scarecrow in these parts needs his moonshine!
