Photo Blogging Challenge (June 2016) - Baseball

I was thrilled when I saw this month's photo theme.  I've always loved baseball.  I played on city leagues in both grade school and high school.  My grade school team, The Challengers, even won the city championship for our age division.  I still have that team uniform and cap.  I also played on teams in the local NASA league when I worked there and the Jaycees when I was a member.

Himself's and my first date was an Indian's game and dinner.  And, in the summer you can often find me working in the garden with my trusty transistor tuned into the game.

I would have loved to go see my favorite team play this month and take pictures there.  But, as luck would have it, when they were in town, I didn't have time, and when I had time, they were on the road.

Instead, I decided to use pictures we took this month that somehow represent various MLB teams.

We had Orioles nest in yard a couple of years ago, but hadn't seen them in a while.  This year they're back, and in great abundance.  They have a distinctive song and we can always tell when they are around.

During the hot weather the Cardinals, as well as many other birds, have been taking advantage of the pooling water at the bottom of our patio waterfall to take baths.

We went to the local parade again this year.  It is the thing to do in these parts.  People put their chairs and blankets out days in advance to mark their viewing spots.  We sat on the top of church stairs, sharing the space with an elderly couple.  The wife could barely walk and is deaf, but she seemed to enjoy herself.  She was happy to take one of the pieces of candy that was flung my way by a parade participant.

One of the best float in the parade was this pirates themed one.  The "ship" even spewed smoke out of its cannon!

Early in the month we went to a free concert, a Janis Joplin cover band.  The concert was supposed to be outside, but there was a threat of rain so it was moved indoors into "The Cellar",  the pub in the basement of a local restaurant.  What a treat!  Such great atmosphere and people watching.  I think the show was much like it would have been in Joplin's day.

On the bar in the pub was a wood carving of an Indian, which I wanted to include here.  There were so many people I couldn't get close enough to take a picture and we haven't been back since.

I had to somehow include my favorite team of all time in this photo challenge, so, this is a little stretch, but you get the photo below.
As of last night (6/29), the Indians have won twelve in a row, something they haven't done since 1951.  I happened to stop at our local farmer earlier in the day to get eggs, so we lined up twelve in a row.  (I told you it was a stretch!)

Bonus:  We took a drive down to Amish country early in the month.  We were treated to the view of a bunch of young girls playing ball.

Funny Foto #17 - Watch This

I am looking to implement a new product at work and wanted to do some online training beforehand.  The software site had several videos, but when I tried to view them, they wouldn't start.  The little icon just kept spinning.

So, like everyone would do, I "Googled" the problem.

And got this result.

A video on how to play a video that won't run.  Really?

And I'm going to watch that how???

First Photo: June 2016

It felt like we skipped Spring.  Most of May was cool and rainy and just a few weeks ago we had snow.  Well, it was only a few flurries, but it was cold.  This last week, however, it was in the mid and upper eighties.  Go figure.

Things are growing and green and beautiful and lush.  I've spent many hours weeding and mulching.  My back aches and my hands hurt and the poison ivy itches on my wrist.

And I love it all.  Summer is here.
